Who are you?

I'm Joan Sunderman Martinez. My husband and I have lived in Hyattsville, MD since 1993. I earned my original bachelor's degree in Business (Marketing and Advertising) from
Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.  Many years later, I earned a degree from the University of Maryland University College in Computer and Information Science.

My computer programming classes at Maryland required me to remember (or re-learn) Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus. It was then that I rediscovered my love of math and in 1999 I began tutoring students in math part-time.

In 2003, I completed a tutor training course through the Kingsbury Center School in Washington, D.C.  The training program consisted of classroom instruction, a supervised practicum and over 100 hours of tutoring. I am a member of the National Tutoring Association.

I enjoy helping students learn skills and strategies that improve their math confidence and success. Please contact me if you have any questions about my services or if I can be of help to you!

Best regards,

Joan
